New media, traditional media have lot to share

New media ad traditional media have a lot to learn from each other according to Lauren Indvik, Associate Editor of popular social media website, Mashable.com.

“We’re using new tools such as Storify.com, and data visualization among others to tel stories in different ways,” she said.

“People want a digest of information, and our aim is to present information in a quick, easily consumable manner.”

She added that Mashable.com is now being syndicated by several traditional media outlets such as CNN and Forbes.com.

Indvik said that the website relied heavily in advertising to keep it sustainable
