Harare, Zimbabwe – An inaugural TEDxHarare Conference on the theme “The Power of Ideas” is scheduled to be held at the Gallery Delta, Harare in August. The independently organised TED event, will aim to celebrate the transformative power of ideas for improving the way citizens of the world live, learn, work and play.
The event will bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, connectors and activists to create meaningful relationships and effective synergies.
“We will honour African innovators who’s passion, curiosity and dogged resolve is paving the way into a newer, brighter future for Zimbabwe and the continent,” reads a statement from the organizers.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes.
TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani,Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
