Harare, Zimbabwe – Sungura maestro, Tongai Moyo, died on Saturday in Harare. He was 43. Moyo, undoubtedly, one of Zimbabwe’s most innovative and trendsetting musicians, succumbed to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – a cancer which affects cells in the lymphatic system called lymphocytes.
According to media reports, dozens of relatives, friends and fellow musicians thronged the hospital as news of his death spread.
“Gospel power couple Charles Charamba, his wife Olivia, and fellow musician First Farai were among the first to arrive at the hospital. Overcome with grief, First Farai slumped in a heap on the hospital car park’s tarmac,” reported New Zimbabwe.com.
