Harare, Zimbabwe – A new play, “No Voice, No Choice” written and directed by versatile theatre practitioner Tafadzwa Muzondo will have its world premiere at this year’s Protest Arts International Festival (PAIF) on Thursday at Theatre in the Park.
The play is a production of two community theatre groups namely, Edzai Isu Theatre Arts Project and Zvido Zvevanhu Arts Ensemble from Highfield and Mufakose, respectively.
“The play is dedicated to; the resilient and innocent Zimbabwean who longs for peace and freedom of choice, the unfortunate perpetrators of violence who are victims of unscrupulous politicians, and the naïve victims who suffers in silence forgetting that the violence will not go if they do not speak out,” said Muzondo.
“No Voice No Choice” is a response to the problem of fear to tell the truth that characterized most of the outreach programs which the writer was involved in and the play’s belief is that if someone does not say the truth, no one will say it, nothing will change and everyone will suffer. It tells the story of human transformation
The play was choreographed by Gibson Sarari, and features the award winning community originated theatre trio of Gibson Sarari, Everson Ndlovu, Tafadzwa Muzondo alongside the experienced internationally travelled community theatre trio of Livius Chitsungo, Charles Biniweri, Sandiseque Sandiseque with energetic upcoming dancer-cum actor, Charlotte Munyanyi and theatre student Tafadzwa Takadiyi.
