According Freedom Maziriri, Managing Director of FreecomAd, which is promoting the show, discussions with the group whose music caused a stir in the country in the 1990s are almost at a final stage.
“The venue is already confirmed – it will be at the Harare International Conference Centre. We are finalising with Boyz II Men on one or two areas but in principle we are confirmed,” he said in an exclusive interview with iZivisoMag.com.
Boyz II Men, undoubtedly one of the most successful R&B group of all time, has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. Some of their most popular songs include “I’ll Make Love to You” and “One Sweet Day” (with Mariah Carey), and the all-time phenomenal “End of the Road” which reached the top of charts across the globe.
“Next year, 31 March will be a glamorous occasion. As FreecomAd, we’re known for our excellence and perfectionism in event organization. That’s what we’re exactly going to do when we bring in BoyzIIMen. This time around we want the visiting artists to mix and mingle with our local artists. In fact, we’re looking at structuring a duo performance, and if we score that, it’ll be great,” said Maziriri, whose company in partnership with Convex Services, an events management company, brought in South African multi-award winning songstress, Lira, for a one-off performance early this year.
“We’re going to feature some very interesting local acts at the show, and one or two that are big and kind of jazzy. Music fans should expect a blast come March next year,” said Maziriri.
Because of their numerous achievements, the top music publication, Billboard Magazine recognized Boyz II Men as one of the most successful musical group of the 1990s. They were among the groups responsible for changing hip hop into a mainstream popular music genre in the 1990s and remain the world’s most popular R&B male vocal group in terms of record sales. Boyz II Men has been touring the world recently, and have also performed with top artists such as Justin Bieber and Beyonce among others.
